The ASEAN Sleep Research & Competence Centre (ASRCC) is an initiative of UM Specialist Centre (UMSC) (visit http://www.umsc.my ) aims to drive awareness and early diagnosis & treatment of sleep disorders through clinical expertise, research and training.
UM Specialist Centre (UMSC) is a tertiary medical centre with super-specialty services located along Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya. It is adjacent to the largest teaching hospital in Malaysia, University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and the longest consecutive Faculty of Medicine founded in 1905. UMSC is part of an integrated regional healthcare hub with UMMC, The Faculty of Medicine and The Faculty of Dentistry. The ASRCC will have State-of-the-art Center for Sleep Medicine, with multi-disciplinary team & experts for evaluating the full range of sleep problems whether they arise from an underlying medical problem such as sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome, other underlying medical and psychiatric conditions, physical airway obstruction or from poor sleep habits, stress, or anxiety.
Patients treated at the Center for Sleep Medicine will be under the care of a comprehensive team that includes specialists in neurology, internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, ear nose and throat (ENT), pediatrics, psychiatry, psychology, bariatric surgery, nutrition, and endocrinology. The Center would accommodate patients for outpatient visits and overnight studies promptly and at their convenience. (Home and center sleep testing facility)
The center will monitor patients using state of the art sleep-recording equipment in private rooms. Sleep study rooms will have specialized monitoring equipment dedicated to these patients.[...] more
